Déjà vu is the French term meaning “already seen”. French psychic researcher Émile Boirac first tossed the word and from that time massive amounts of research has been done on this subject but it remains one of the unsolved mysteries of our human existence. It’s thought to be quite common, having occurred in between 30 to 96 percent of our population, and usually lasts only seconds. It can be triggered by lack of sleep or emotional stress and happens most frequently in our thirties, dissipating after that. People report more déjà vu the more years of education they’ve had. It’s more common at night than in the morning. People who travel regularly and people who remember their dreams are more prone to déjà vu. Physic and telepathic individuals are also most prone to this experience as well.
A way to describe it as experiencing the past in your present. It can also be described as uncanny, or oddly familiar when it happens. Logic tells you that the situation you’re in is happening for the first time you are experiencing this but some other sense or instinct is communicating that you that you’ve been there, done that, said that, or seen this before.
Deja vu occurs for both adults and children. Deja vu can be triggered through any of our senses including taste, smell, sound, and touch. It could be a certain voice, a familiar object or a specific sound that triggers your memory and déjà vu experience.
The Spiritual Idea
Because déjà vu is the sense of having seen, hear or intuited something before it can be easy to chalk it up to a past life connection. While this may be true I have found a deeper explanation that seems to resonate a little stronger with me.
Before our soul enters our body we hang out in the spirit world with our soul group. Our soul group is like our team, our family in the spirit world that we work with and support. When we come to Earth, our soul family is often present in our human lives in some way and we may take on the role of being each other’s spouse, parent, friend, and so on. These roles may change from life to life but our soul family will usually feature in some way.
While we are in the spirit realms we begin preparing for a new life on Earth. During this time we plan with the help of our soul group and our spirit guides to achieve the lessons we want to achieve and fulfill the destiny we wish to play out. Our mission often involves our soul family so we work with them to ensure we are all on the same page and that there are clear opportunities to meet and play out the lessons we need to play out once we are on Earth together.
After we have worked with our soul group and mapped out our individual lives, we are given what has been described as “signposts”. These spiritual signposts are placed at different points on your journey by your soul in order to remind you of your path, your journey, and that you are on the right track. As a soul, you know once you come down to the physical realm that you may forget the plans you made or the purpose of your journey, so these signposts are set as reminders and clues that you are on the right track. When we reach a point on our path where a sign is revealed, we have a sense of remembrance, and perhaps we are reminded that some time ago we devised this life plan along with our soul group.
As a soul, we may have also been able to watch our life-to-be playing out, and perhaps this moment of remembrance is also a sign that we have seen that this was how things were meant to be. Additionally, when experiencing déjà vu you are doing something and feel as though you’ve already been there before, even though you haven’t. In all actuality, it might be that your brain has telepathically received a message from a version of yourself in another nonlinear dimension that has already done the specific task you are doing. Only about thirty percent of your soul exists in your three dimensional body on earth. You do exist in other dimension realms and there is a loop that can run into other dimensional fields.
Experiencing déjà vu is just one way these signs can remind us of our journey. We can also be reminded through gut feelings, dreams, connecting with people we feel we have known forever, synchronicities and so much more. So the next time you experience déjà vu perhaps pause and acknowledge the moment. Pay attention to who you are with and what you are doing, and acknowledge that you have reached a point on your life path where a nugget is being revealed to you. This experience was laid down by your loving soul before you came into this body, and reveals that you are on the right track, meeting who you are meant to be meeting, and heading where you need to be heading.
What is the of Purpose of Deja Vu?
Déjà Vu serves as a marker between past lives or premonitions and our current life. The markers are reminders that can be signaling many things:
- You may be repeating an action from a past life
- There are past life experiences and soul aspects you’re able to now heal and integrate into your soul
- You have experience with whatever is happening at this moment
- You are in the right place and at the right time with the right people
- You’ve just experienced a timeline shift in your spiritual grid
- You have the support of your spiritual family and guides as well as the wisdom and knowledge needed to be here on Earth now.
Déjà vu is a marker for change of action in your life. It is validation of the direction you’re heading. Just remember that your soul planned this repeat moment just for you. The divine is supporting you and wants you to decode the message. Just having the awareness of a past memory can open a window to your higher self and provide much needed insight and awareness.
Each experience of déjà vu is an opportunity to increase your understanding and connection to higher consciousness. It is your soul’s way of connecting with your physical self on a much deeper level. When viewed this way déjà vu helps you see life more clearly. It can influence your decisions in a positive light, heal emotional wounds, and unblock negative patterns of thinking.
We learn from our history. Why not learn from the experiences of a past life? This sign has come to you from your guides, your guardians and your ancestral group. They’ve chosen it for you. In this lifetime to assist you in your ascension.
Even if you’ve never experienced deva vu it does not mean that this is your first life. Every being has already had multiple lives here on Earth and in the spirit realm. If you’ve never experienced déjà vu it means that your angels and guides didn’t arrange for this kind of reminder or marker during this particular journey . Let this motivate to look in other areas where your signs are coming from. This tuning in can be extremely helpful during times where you are at a crossroads.
Rest assured no being is here alone. You have a team dedicated to your soul’s journey. They are talking to you in some other way. For you, now, other markers make more sense. In fact if you stop now and think you’re likely to realize where your markers have been coming from. Other coincidences, synchronicities, epiphanies, life-changing events that are interwoven into our spiritual journey.
The Scientific Theory
Déjà vu is difficult to study as it is so fleeting. It has puzzled researchers as to how to replicate it in a laboratory environment. It still is a historical fact and is experienced by millions of people all over the world. This has led to a few different theories that have developed over time to explain why human beings experience this phenomena.
Accidental Triggers in the Brain
Back in 2006 the Leeds Memory Group thought they had found a way to recreate the sensation in a lab by using hypnosis to trigger part of the brain’s recognition process. The experiment was based on the theory that two key processes happen in the brain when we recognize something or someone familiar. Our brains search through our memories to see if we’ve observed the scene before, and if it comes up with a match, a separate area of the brain identifies it as familiar. In déjà vu the second part of the process could be triggered by accident.
The researchers recruited 18 volunteers who were asked to look at 24 common words. Then they were hypnotized and told that when they were presented with a word in a red frame it would feel familiar. Words in green frames would make them think the word was in the original list of 24. After being taken out of hypnosis, the subjects were given a series of words in different colored frames, including some words that didn’t appear in the original list. In the group, 10 said they felt a peculiar sensation when they saw new words in red frames, and 5 said it felt like they were having déjà vu.
Malfunctioning Memory
Over the years psychologist have come up with several ideas to explain the feeling déjà vu. It could be some sort of malfunctioning between the long and short term circuits in the brain, meaning new information may take a shortcut straight to long-term memory. This skips over the mechanisms the brain normally uses to store information, so it could feel like we are experiencing something from the past.
It could also be something to do with the rhinal cortex, which is an area of the brain that makes us feel familiarity. It could somehow be activated without triggering other areas associated with memory. That could explain why it’s so difficult to pin down what feels familiar about the déjà vu. It’s usually a vague familiarity not a specific object or person.
Two Types of Déjà vu
- Associative déjà vu The most common type of déjà vu experienced by normal, healthy people is associative in nature. You may see, hear, smell or otherwise experience something that stirs a feeling that you associate with something you’ve seen, heard, smelled or experienced before. Many researchers think that this type of déjà vu is a memory based experience and think that the memory centers in the brain are responsible for the effects.
- Biological déjà there are also high occurrences of déjà vu among people with temporal lobe epilepsy. Just before having a seizure they often experience a strong feeling of déjà vu. This has given researchers a slightly more reliable way of studying déjà vu and they’ve been able to identify the areas of the brain where these types of déjà vu signals originate. However, some researchers say that this type of déjà vu is distinctly different from typical déjà vu. The person experiencing it may truly believe they’ve been through the exact situation before rather than getting a feeling that quickly passes.
My Perspective
Even though I see dead people, angelic and a lot of of other things I am somewhat scientifically minded when I approach any subject. I am not a skeptical person but I like to take personal experiences and explore all rational and spiritual explanations. On this subject I tend to lean more towards the experience of the soul and its journey here on earth. This phenomena is shared by millions if not billions of people all over the world. I have found it can be triggered by meeting a person or changing your local. It has never been fully explained scientifically and in my personal experience it can occur around spiritual ascensions and other major life events. I am fascinated with anything that has to do with time. My relationship with time after all assists me helping my clients. I have had many experiences of déjà vu. During my episodes of déjà vu I have noticed synchronicities, repeating numbers and the feeling that a reset or reminder is happening. A wrinkle in time to allow me to continue to have faith and assurity during my journey on earth. I do feel that during episodes of de ja vu we are experiencing life in the Three Dimensional realm and perhaps life in other dimensions. I often feel jarred or dazed after a déjà vu experience. I feel something is trying to get my attention. I have had this feeling when I am in the presence of a Spirit Guide and also when I have met people that I feel that I have known before even though I have only known them for a short time or have just met. When I was living in Europe I had déjà vu almost on a weekly basis. It is possible that this is the brain being the brain but perhaps something more ethereal is at work here. One of the mysteries of the universe for us to someday discover. Until then we continue to unfold.
