Earthbound spirits, commonly known as ghosts, are deceased individuals who remain attached to the earthly realm after dying. When the physical body dies the soul of a person usually moves into the astral realm through their Astral Body to begin a new existence. The Astral Body or Shell remains on the Astral plane to dissolve and reintegrate into the Universal Life Force. This astral dimension is very close to our own physical dimension. It is the next layer up from the physical plane. The Soul can stay on the Astral Plane or Reincarnate into another lifetime or return to its own Star System or ascend into Heaven if they choose and are permitted. Unfortunately, there are spirits who do not or will not cross into the light of the Astral Plane immediately upon death. These spirits are commonly referred to as “Earthbound Spirits.”
Earthbound spirits are individuals who either consciously decide not to cross over to the light, are not aware they have died or are so traumatized by the death experience they literally cannot see the light. Earthbound spirits are quite often bound to live out to an isolated existence on Earth. They continue to have conscious awareness in their immediate surroundings world and often linger in earthly locals where they once felt the most comfort and safety. They often have an agenda but sometimes they do. You might encounter these spirits in a previously owned home or a place of business, an old battlefield, or even seen wandering around a property. In other situations the souls might inhabit a space somewhere in reality but are not consciously aware of where that is and are not tied to a particular place.
Some Spirits do not know that they are dead. They could have died suddenly or been in a state of unconsciousness at the time of their death. As hard as it is for us to comprehend this scenario this it does happen. These spirits can be benign and harmless or very angry and attempt to lash out at the living. They will hang around until they are either found out and urged to cross over to the other side or shocked out of their dreamy existence and make the choice to cross over at that time. Sometimes the activity they create is a cry for help to the living. It could be that they are finally ready to cross over and they would like to receive prayers and assistance so they may move into the light.
These spirits have died and left their physical bodies. For some unknown reason at the time of death they have missed their opportunity to cross over into the Light or chosen to stay on the Earthly Plane. This opportunity is presented to all Spirits in the event of the death of their physical body and most Spirits, immediately take this opportunity and move into the Light. Because Earthbound Spirits were once human they need human energy to exist in their current state and many earthbound Spirits can be found in places with many people for this reason. Homes, cities and downtown areas and busy roads are typical places. They can also be found in places where lots of death has occurred. Some examples of places that you can find Earthbound Souls are battlefields, cemeteries, funeral homes, hospitals and older homes. The reason for this is simple, without a renewable energy source travel for the Earthbound Soul is very arduous. These places often offer the Earthbound Soul of copious amounts of energy in which to manifest and recharge their soul due to the trauma and layers of energetic buildup in the frame of the structure as well as the geomagnetic field that it sits upon.
Are Earthbound Spirits energy can typically make you feel not only heavy but also anxious or afraid. Some people find that Earthbound Spirits evoke a cold or chilling feeling as they often draw on your heat from the aura and your body to sustain themselves. They can be dazed or confused or dazed depending on how they passed away and their mental and emotional state. It is most likely THEIR anxiety, worry, concern and fear you are picking up on rather than your own. You might even be able to sense another person is around but unable to see or hear them and they are often unable to communicate with words or images using divine energy and rather using another human energy that is around to connect. It can be difficult or draining to connect with them and is not advised as they may not have good intentions.
Reasons for the Soul to Remain Earthbound
The death may have been sudden and traumatic causing a highly confused state of the soul
The Spirit exists in a dazed twilight condition and don’t know they are dead
They may feel rage at being robbed of a lifetime that was cut short by their death
They have a fear of how they will be treated on the other side if they were cruel in life
Have an emotional attachment to those left behind
They may suffer guilt
They believe they have unfinished business
They need to get an important message to those they left behind
There’s a refusal to acknowledge death
They stay for the sake of curiosity or revenge
Are searching for a loved one such as a child or lost lover
They want to attach to someone living to continue bad behavior
*Some souls cannot bear to be separated from family members or are worried about a particular family member–such as a spouse left behind. Many earthbound spirits are not aware or choose to ignore guides and loved ones on the other side who have come to escort them across the veil. They instead elect to continue on as before with their emotions and attitudes unchanged.
Earthbound Souls-Categories
Many earthbound spirits are benevolent and cause very little tangible activity. Living persons residing in locations where this kind of earthbound spirit exists may never even know the trapped souls are there. Then there are unhappy and angry types which may start causing trouble by creating various types of real disturbances. Quite often spirit activity or ghostly activity begins when there is a disruption to their living space or their prior home. Earthbound spirits can reveal themselves also during renovations to a structure.
Their Unfinished Business
These are spirits who elect to stay in a particular local which was important to them during life. They may even feel duty bound to stay. They do not want to let go of their life on Earth. These are not malicious or mean spirits they only want to continue doing what was the most important thing to them in life or watch over loved ones left behind. Sometimes these spirits are simply curious about what it would be like to stay on Earth without a body. But those souls soon realize that life literally goes on without them. Some of these spirits may have unfinished business here on earth and may linger to assure that certain situations resolve or that their Karma is still needed in a situation.
Evil People- Evils Souls
This class of spirit are also known as Evil Spirits. Evil Spirits are not Demons. They are people who were cruel and harmful in life and continue to be this way in death. They are quite aware of their situation and often exhibit aggressive behavior. These spirits could be angry, paranoid, cruel, defensive, or want the space they are occupying all to themselves at any cost. They may have of an agenda of hate, vengeance or wanting to harm other by trying to cause physical harm. They, like Demons, are capable of causing physical and emotional harm to human beings. They are as they were in the physical body. Sometimes, when there is more than one spirit occupying a space, these nasty types will bully the other spirits to keep them afraid and to control them. They understand that now that they are out of their body they have lost the power to fully harm others and find a position of power. But they still hold these feelings withing their soul on some level and seek to carry out their agenda on Earth. You can still feel an Evil Souls humanity. In encountering these types of spirits call upon your Guides for protection. Cleanse and grounding your living space and enlist the help of a priest to perform a house blessing. If things escalate a medium can assist in closing any portals that linger and help in moving the soul along to where they need to be.
Traumatic Deaths
This type of spirit exhibits a lesser degree of conscious awareness. They may appear to those who witness them as being vague, uncertain, highly confused or exhibiting deep sadness. These tragic spirits may have died in an unexpected traumatic way or by their own hand. They exist within a dreamy reality where nothing really changes for them. They often appear gray, dull, and lifeless in their appearance. They often do not respond when spoken to. However, they do have an awareness. Some spirits whose death was sudden and unexpected remain confused and don’t know or accept that they have died. These spirits remain on earth and try to make contact with anyone that passes by that is sensitive to spirits in hopes that they can help them understand what has happened. Ghosts become trapped when they feel responsible to someone on earth particularly a baby or child. Often a mother who dies in childbirth will be unable to leave their newborn. Her maternal instinct can be even more powerful than death and the deceased mother will stay to watch over the baby until she is convinced that her child will be alright. What these ghosts don’t realize is that they can still influence, comfort and protect as a Spirit on the other side. This knowledge can provide great comfort to those that have lost a loved one and in letting a soul know they can cross over to the other side and still be connected.
Souls Under Addiction
Addiction can be stronger than death. A profound statement to be sure but true. Drug addicts and alcoholics often get stuck because their addictive mindset can be even stronger than the death force. Many souls come to Earth to conquer addictions that have plagued them for many lifetimes. If they die before they heal they will most likely carry the addiction into the next lifetime. Their earthbound spirits lurk around other addicts and can actually invade their auric field so that they can experience a ghostly version of the high that they couldn’t resist in life. These types of souls can actually accelerate or prevent recovery in in those that are struggling with addiction in this lifetime. I always advise people who are beginning their journey in recovery to continue to cleanse their living space and choose friends and intimates very carefully.
Joe-The Dishwasher from Kennebunkport ,Maine
Since I was about five years old I have seen an older man who appears as a full body apparition doing the dishes. In every home I have lived in-it started in Maine-and continues in my home in Tustin he has appeared. I have called him “Joe” since that name seemed to fit. He is harmless. He doesn’t really interact with me but will manifest fully. He is transparent. Always wearing a black and red Pendleton. It seems he may be unaware that he is dead and does seem to be involved in doing the same activity. But following me does seem to indicate that he is aware enough understand that I was able to see him. We have tried helping him to move on but it has been over forty years and he’s still appearing at the sink doing dishes that aren’t there. I do think he may be helping me at times and possibly is somewhat of a guide. He shows up very unexpectedly that in that he is reliable. I believe he understands what he is doing but I sense a purpose in him. He has his own will.
Earthbound Spirits Signs
Unfortunately the signs of the presence of Earthbound spirits are often incredibly subtle and people are initially unlikely to be aware of these spirits inhabiting their home or around them. Earthbound spirits drain energy. The drain human and atmospheric energy. They can attach to the living through openings in the ethereal body and the auric field of the home. Gradually the Earthbound spirit will express their emotions whether they be negative or positive. They will extend energetically their worries and concerns which can be very powerful. They can share their addictions and even physical pains that can often relate to the way they died. This form of attachment is the same as possession by an Demons but it does not take control of the body physically. They just latch onto someone. These effects can become intense and disturbing and will often lead to psychological and physical issues such as depression, anxiety and headaches.
Generally Earthbound Spirits are not harmful. They are usually suffering or confused and in a weakened state. What they will do which is not intentional is to drain energy from those around them. They have not physical forms in our three dimensional world and do not belong here spiritual. They have no real way of recharging their energy fields. It runs at a very low vibrational field so it naturally pull energy from anyone or anything that it can. Often times a spirit will attach themselves to someone it feels connected to. This could be a family member or a friend of someone that they were in love with. The soul’s low vibrational energy leaks into its “Host” as its positive energy is drained.
Keep a watchful eye for misplaced or lost things around the home. Though there are ghosts who are able to move furniture or other items around the house a more effective means of getting a reaction from a living person is to move or hide smaller items such as keys, checkbooks, paperwork and especially jewelry. Room temperature changes in unexpected places may also be a sign of a ghost’s arrival or departure. When children suddenly develop a fear of a particular room it can be a sign that something or someone is disturbing their sense of security in their own home. People report seeing the flickering of lights and moving shadows or small patches of fog drifting in a room when sensing the presence of a spirit. People living with earthbound spirits often think they hear someone calling out their name. People may also hear footsteps hallways or on staircases. Pounding or banging on doors or walls can also be heard.
Assisting a Soul in Transition
If you’ve observed these types of behaviors in yourself or someone else then it can be helpful to understand how to release Earthbound spirits.Helping a soul in crossing over is not as complicated as you might think and it’s certainly nothing like you’ve seen in a movie. You may have to try a few techniques as the reason why the spirit is trapped here is going to alter how to help a spirit move on. Just know that there is nothing to be afraid of if you ground yourself and use the proper protection. Keep in mind that these Earthbound spirits are mostly often energy with fragments of their consciousness left that have reasons to stay here. They remain on Earth and are sometimes confused and grieving. The leftover elements from their existence can bind them to the Earthly Plane.
Angelic Intercession
The first step in assisting a soul in crossing over is to Pray. Reciting The Lord’s Prayer, which is the most powerful prayer, can often be the solution in itself. It can create an opening to the Angelic and they can literally pull the soul into the light and take it from there. Another way to offer help is to consult your Angels and Spirit Guides. This is part of their job and they will assist if they can in helping the soul lift out of the Earthly Plane. If you’re not sure how to help spirits move on then they can offer guidance on your behalf. In this way a human being can act as a bridge to the other side. There are various ways they can offer direct help as well. Angels can guide the spirit across to the other side if that’s an option so often asking your angels for help is enough. Other times they might guide you towards a prayer to help spirits cross over. It could be that the spirit needs words to come from the physical world to direct it towards the spiritual one. You can also ask your angels for protection. You’re not in any danger in assisting in this way. Some people, such as mediums and Lightworkers or those that are able to hear Earthbound Souls are born to do this work. It is possible that a spirit could sense your spiritual energy and choose to latch onto you. By receiving protection such as an Angelic Shield you won’t have to worry about being harmed in this process. It can also provide protection from any future Earthbound Spirits. Be sure practice grounding and smudging when involving yourself in this work. Holy water and the use of salt can also help.
Offering Spiritual Guidance
When a spirit is lost or confused but less fragmented than most Earthbound Spirits they can be communicated with. They can be reasoned with and they understand that they need to move on. Many times they would just like someone to acknowledge their existence. Unless you utilize a medium to establish the communication it is likely to be one directional, but often that is enough to release them. For some spirits crossing over is a terrifying ordeal as they fear the judgment that follows. You can reassure these types of spirits that they are going towards the light and should embrace the warmth it offers. They will be welcomed with open arms. For the Earthbound Spirits who are unaware of their death comforting them is the best approach. Let them come to terms with being dead but provide them with support and let them know that there’s nothing to be afraid of and that they are just a little lost. Offer to help them find their way and gently instruct them to follow the light.
Earthbound Spirits Still Posses a Will
Because Earthbound Spirits are outside of our Space-Time continuum their incorporeal state of existence could go on for hundreds of years by Earth’s Time-Clock. Spirits of this type have been presented with many opportunities by other spirits or loved ones to move on to a more healing place but they often refuse to acknowledge any attempts for help. They spurn advances by others to assist them in escaping their dark world of being a spirit without a body. Over time, regardless of their stubbornness or inability to be aware of their trapped condition, these souls will someday move out of the darkness and into the light of the higher astral plane.
The Destiny of Earthbound Spirits
Earthbound spirits are actually more rare than some would think, although due to current events on Earth more and more are continuing to stay here. Most of us will automatically make the transition to the plane of existence which best aligns with our soul’s frequency. This is determined by our nature and what is in our heart at the time of passing as well as how the energy of the choices is integrated into our aura, particularly our spiritual awareness and level of compassion. Some of us may require varying degrees of help and adjustment when we move into the Astral Plane due to difficult circumstances experienced in the lifetime. The reality is most of us make the crossing to the realm of spirit effortlessly. Even people with no religious or deep spiritual backgrounds cross over with ease. In my experience there is no one way a soul can transcend. It happens individually for each soul. Remaining Earthbound may be in a soul’s karmic agreement as an additional part of their journey back home.
