Salvia Pachyphylla otherwise known as Blue sage, Mountain Desert Sage is a perennial shrub and a hardy bush native to California, Nevada, and Arizona. It is named for its abundant blue flowers but the leaves also have a blueish cast. It has very thin leaves and a fragrance that is both herbaceous and floral which is very similar to Lavender. In California, it grows between 5,000 to 10,000 ft (1,500 to 3,000 m) elevation on dry rocky slopes, blooming from July to September. .
