In astrology our North and South Lunar Nodes are presented as cosmological points where the Moon’s orbit and the plane of our elliptic converge during the exact time of your birth and incarnation. They can be thought to illustrate the storied exploration of your soul’s journey through each and every lifetime you have lived thus far on Earth and perhaps in other star systems.
In a person’s astrological chart part of the souls purpose is spiritually encoded in the North Node and South Node of the Moon. The Lunar Nodes are directly in opposition of one another in a persons chart. They are not specifically planets per se, but instead mathematical points within chart that fall in two opposite astrological signs. For example, if your north node is in Cancer, your south node will be in its opposite sign of Capricorn.
Our Lunar Nodes reflect a delicate chain of incarnations encoded within our spiritual and cosmological DNA. They can be considered “Karmic” elements and generators and are sometimes used as recalled memories in choosing a future lifetime. It is also believed that our Lunar Nodes can sometimes manifest themselves within the near-death experiences or in astral projections or extreme hauntings when a person may cross into the other veils of existence within their three-dimensional incarnation.
The ideas surrounding our Lunar Nodes (the North Node and South Node) suggests that we all come into this world with parts of our souls that are under-aspected or overly-aspected and that reflect components of our souls character. The Nodes of the Moon point us to specific qualities. Our South Node suggests our overdeveloped character traits that are easy for us to fall back on, that are somewhat inherent within us. Things perhaps we perfected in our past lifetime but that may undermine or keep us stuck in our lives if we hold on to these traits out of fear and familiarity. Our North Node suggests the qualities that we need to bring into awareness and deepen in order to find wholeness. Like a beacon, it points the way towards our souls destiny. When you reach for your souls purpose or primary theme in your incarnation the universe profoundly supports you by bringing in exactly what you need. It does this through spiritual awakenings, crisp and important downloads from your higher self, placing catalysts and mentors in your life so that can arrive to your Karmic destinations.
Our North Node
Our North Node is reflective of our Karmic Themes and the learning and deepening that we came to the Earth to experience and integrate into our souls. It also involves the way we will understand ourselves within this lifetime through experiencing these challenging events and their lessons. Our South Nodes are indicative of the gifts, wisdom and past Karma we bring with us from previous lifetimes here on Earth. You can look at your North Node as your goals in your life and they will have somewhat of a collective nature. There is a factor of integration with the North Node as it can include personal dreams as well as common dreams and goals that others within your soul family also have. The North Node is energy that you will have to learn how to integrate into your present life. This energy and the events that are brought into your life that cause this energy may seem strange and unfamiliar to you. This is uncharted territory and can evoke fear, doubt, anger and feelings of being overtaken. Our North Nodes essentially represent areas in our souls of growth and challenges. Our North Node replenishes our soul by continually providing us with new experiences, people and situations which deepen us and open us up, usually with our initial resistance. It is responsible for most, if not all of the spiritual awakenings that we experience while in our physical bodies. Our North Node agreements blast us out of our dated habits and patterns. They help dissolve bonds to relationships that have long since died and no longer serve their purpose spiritually. Through these constant influxes of energy we are put in contact with the “New”. New people, new ideas and perceptions and the ability to receive new information we may have been unaware previously allowing new light and energy into the light bodies furthering our alignments to higher consciousness.
Our South Node
The South Node reveals the gifts that you have brought into this lifetime. Your remembered passions, the things that will sustain you in this incarnation. Your South Node gifts will be things that your are innately skilled in. These gifts will be the inroads to early interests and leanings. You may feel they are always with you and you can utilize them whenever you need to. Using these gifts can bring a sense of satisfaction and wholeness but you ultimately will not deepen and grow spiritually and may get caught up in patterns and ruts if your hold on to them past the primary usefulness. In the field of the South Node it may feel a little like Groundhog Day where there is a lot of stability because each day is very much like the last. Deja Vu is quite common when immersed in your South Node energy. This may be emanations from your past lifetimes that are being repeated again in our 3D world. The key is to use your South Node as a catalyst to move you into your North Node energies that are patiently waiting for you. The South Node is your cosmological “Homebase” ,perhaps not the place you want to settle down in permanently, but somewhere comforting to visit when you need to feel a sense of grounding or belonging. It is thought that the energy from your South Node is energy that you resonate and use when you are younger, mostly under the age of thirty. As you mature and gain wisdom and experience you begin to move into the deepening and challenge of your North Node energies .The descending or South Node is associated with our past, whether it is in a “Karmic State” of things carried over from past lives into our present one, or in the sense of the influence of the past in the present life, such as one’s inherited traits and childhood experiences. The South Node may also reflect an area of life where the person is competent, but yet where little further expansion will occur.
The South and North Nodes should ideally work in unison. They are not isolated within their energetic distillments. The South Node does not dissolve as we mature though, it oscillates back and forth. The South Node will feed the North Node as the soul moves forward and backward between the comfortable and familiar towards the new and unchartered. The more a person is open to receive the energy of the North Node the more we grow, deepen and accomplish and fulfill our destiny in this chosen life experience. You will always have whispers of your South Node to help you move forward. It is never really gone from your energy field.
Whether or not we intentionally work on our Lunar lessons or not the events in our lives are more than likely to force us to confront them as we come into their awareness in our lives. These can be the moments where we ask ourselves “Why did this person come into my life” or “Why did I lost my job?” Powerful life events that seem to be very impactful are associated with Lunar Nodes activations. To move through them and allow them to integrate and deepen us in way that are not in our consciousness or control can be the key. In my experience people often begin to confront and work on their North Node lessons in their early thirties, whether or not they are aware of the issues through Astrology. Before this phase of our lives, we may be somewhat blighted to our South Node tendencies and relish in the familiarity of what we know and its stability. A soul’s platform is about to be dismantled and restructured.
Lunar North Node energy forces a powerful rushing stream of new and unfamiliar energy into a persons life flooding in spaces of predestined agreements that bring forth renewed awareness from our inner selves which will awaken the will to craft something new of our own and continue on our spiritual journey on Earth. Nodes can announce their activations through through profound inner conflict, upheavals in ones personal life and the breaking off of long term relationships. We may feel separated from our families and friends, from ourselves, experience self-doubt, begin to question our own mortality, feel lost and hopeless and experience loneliness and isolation. Thoughts and actions are birthed out of this inward distress and brave decisions are made that ignite our souls with renewed flow of energy. We then begin to enter into a trailblazing mode and an feeling of departure and separation that, at the same time, awakens our willingness and strength to sacrifice and awakens the our ability to act assertively.
Whether the Lunar Node activation brings about profound change or occurs relatively unnoticed varies from person to person and can seem different from node to node. For a soul who lives powerfully in the past and strongly holds on to the sentimentality of what they have only known, rejecting the new, it can become a long drawn out painful process whereby the universe has decided that you have waited long enough and provides a jolting stroke of fate, a threat to the person’s very existence, confrontations with physical mortality and that leads the person to the changes that await. If a person can lead a life that is in harmony with her or his soul-impulses, the Lunar Nodes may transition softly and integrates without too much trauma. Even in this scenario the person will be aware and experience the newness and intensity of bringing the encoding from the Lunar Nodes working together. Identifying and discerning our incarnational dreams and pathways that are based on your own soul’s vibration and then putting your emotional, mental and physical energy into their manifestation intuitively will assist in achieving the balance and saturation that is so important in our lives. to discern our life goals based on our own intrinsic values and then to working towards actualizing them in a intuitive manner will help us achieve
Our Lunar Node activations and experiences are as diverse and individualistic as humanity itself. What ultimately unites and integrates them are the tiny granules of time in which the window to the mystical world is opened just enough to reveal the themes of our spiritual destinies. The more primary themes of our soul’s purpose. Our spiritual and cosmological awareness is perhaps the guiding light we need because if you are aware of their appearance and manifestation in your life you will understand the profound blessings and not align only to the loss associated with their arrival but to the new experiences and wisdom they bring. With this deepened insight and the new spiritual energy we can ascend into our uncovered spiritual growth allowing our souls secret longings to blossom and manifest in this beautiful journey we call life.
